Safety & Security Films
Glass that holds together when it breaks.
When ordinary glass breaks, it breaks into sharp shards. Safety film is a thicker, tougher layer that bonds to the pane and holds the pieces together on impact — reducing the risk of injury from accidental breakage, and making a smash-and-grab or forced entry slower and noisier.
It's especially relevant where glass is large, low or at the point of access: balcony and patio doors, floor-to-ceiling windows, shopfront glass, glass doors in offices and the glass around children's play areas. Film thickness and fixing method vary with the risk, and we'll recommend what suits the glass and the setting.
Why people choose it
- Holds fragments together if the glass breaks
- Reduces the risk of injury from accidental breakage
- Makes forced entry slower and harder
- Clear — the glass looks the same
- Can be combined with sun control or privacy film
- A practical upgrade for existing glass
Best for
How it works
- 1Site visit. We look at the glass in person — which way it faces, what the room suffers from (heat, glare, overlooking, safety) and how big each pane is.
- 2Film selection. A film is matched to your glass and your problem, and you see the options against your own windows before anything is ordered.
- 3Installation. Glass prepared and cleaned, film applied wet for accurate positioning and squeegeed flat. Floors protected and the area tidied afterwards.
- 4Aftercare. Care and curing guidance at handover, and a phone number that still gets answered if anything needs a second look.
Common questions
Does safety film make glass unbreakable?+
No. The glass can still crack or break, but the film holds the pieces together instead of letting them scatter. It makes breakage safer and entry slower — it doesn't turn glass into armour.
Is it visible once installed?+
Clear safety film is nearly invisible. It can also be combined with tint or frosting if you want privacy or heat control as well.
Does it work on toughened glass?+
Film can be applied to toughened glass, and is commonly used on balcony and shopfront panes. We'll check the glass type and recommend the right film and fixing.
