Reflective & One-Way Vision Films

Daytime privacy with a clean mirror finish.

One-way reflective film works on a simple principle: light travels from brighter to dimmer. By day, the metallic coating reflects the brighter outdoors, so passers-by and neighbours see mostly their own reflection while you keep a clear view out. It also reflects a good share of solar heat, which is why it doubles as a sun control film.

Important: the effect reverses after dark. When your lights are on and it's darker outside, people outside can see in. For round-the-clock privacy we usually pair reflective film with frosted film on lower sections, or recommend frosted film alone. Reflective films also change a building's outward appearance, so societies and landlords may need to approve them.

Why people choose it

  • Daytime privacy from the street and neighbouring buildings
  • Clear view out from inside
  • Reflects solar heat, keeping rooms cooler
  • Cuts glare on screens
  • Modern mirrored look on the facade
  • Reduces the need for curtains by day

How it works

  1. 1Site visit. We look at the glass in person — which way it faces, what the room suffers from (heat, glare, overlooking, safety) and how big each pane is.
  2. 2Film selection. A film is matched to your glass and your problem, and you see the options against your own windows before anything is ordered.
  3. 3Installation. Glass prepared and cleaned, film applied wet for accurate positioning and squeegeed flat. Floors protected and the area tidied afterwards.
  4. 4Aftercare. Care and curing guidance at handover, and a phone number that still gets answered if anything needs a second look.

Common questions

Does one-way film give privacy at night?+

No — the effect reverses once it's darker outside than inside, so lit rooms can be seen into. For night privacy use frosted film, or combine the two.

Do societies allow mirror film?+

Many housing societies restrict reflective films because they change the facade's appearance. Check with your committee first; we can give you a sample and specification to show them.

Is it good for heat as well as privacy?+

Yes — reflective films reject a good share of solar heat, so they're a common choice on sunny, overlooked glass where both matter.
